The Parks
Among our many natural resources are several fascinating area parks, including: Glendalough State Park, Phelps Mill, and Inspiration Peak.

Situated in the very heart of the Lakes Area is Glendalough State Park, our conservation icon, covering more than 2,000 acres amid a wealth of geological features, expansive wetlands, several lakes, grasslands, and abundant wildlife. Annie Battle Lake within the park is an environmental lake with an impressive fishery, where motorized boats and electronics are not permitted.

A unique attribute to the area is Glendalough’s proximity to the city of Battle Lake. Unlike other popular state parks, Glendalough resides one mile from the city limits of Battle Lake and minutes from the city’s numerous retail, recreational, service, and culinary options for park visitors. It’s simply a bike ride away.

Phelps Mill, an Otter Tail County historical park, features a refurbished flour mill along the winding shores of the Otter Tail River. This is the site of the renowned Phelps Mill Arts Festival that attracts nearly 30,000 people during July each year to enjoy great artistry, music, food, and fun along the banks of a gorgeous river setting.

Inspiration Peak sits prominently at the southern corridor of the Lakes Area as one of the highest points in Minnesota.

The area also contains numerous Wildlife Management Areas for public use, including the Elmo and Inman WMA’s, each boasting more than 500 acres of recreational land within minutes of the Lakes Area.
